My name is Sienna Rodriguez. I am 22 years old and have been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since October 2018. Since I have started competing I have won: 2019 NAGA Houston Open Champion 2020 IBJJF Austin Open Heavyweight Champion 2020 IBJJF New Orleans Open Middle Heavyweight Champion 2020 IBJJF Kansas City Open Middle Heavyweight Champion 2020 Grappling Games Houston Champion 2020 AGF Houston Heavyweight Champion 2020 IBJJF Houston Open Middleweight Second Place 2020 AGF Houston Absolute Champion 2020 AGF Mississippi Lightweight Champion 2020 AGF Mississippi Absolute Champion When I started training I had no idea how much of an impact it would have on my life. Some of the benefits I have noticed from Jiu Jitsu are: Building Friendships: My teammates are all so amazing, I would have never crossed paths with most of them if it was not for Jiu Jitsu. Age is no obstacle, I have friends as young as 4 and as mature as 56. The members at Still Waters BJJ are all so uplifting, supportive, and welcoming. I love that we all encourage each other to be the best version of ourselves. Healthy Lifestyle: When I am training it does not feel like I am working out, I love lifting weights but that can become repetitive.. When I come to class not only do I get better at Jiu Jitsu, but I also burn calories while getting stronger. Jiu Jitsu has helped me become more consistent with eating healthy, I have noticed that I pay attention to fueling my body rather than eating empty calories. Traveling For Competitions: One of the best feelings in the world is being able to accomplish something only you can do. I already love to travel and I love Jiu Jitsu. So traveling to compete is the perfect mix. Everything about competitions I enjoy. The weeks I spend preparing for it by training hard and eating healthy. The traveling experience of seeing new places and exploring on the way. The day of the competition I am usually a bit more nervous, but ready. I know I did everything I could to prepare and I am ready to show that on the mats. By having the support from my team, family, and coach; I know I can do anything.
